Rigevidon releases synthetic versions of oestrogen (ethinylestradiol) and progesterone (levonorgestrel) into your body. These hormones work together to prevent the release of an egg each month, make it harder for sperm to reach the egg, and alter the uterine lining so a fertilised egg cannot implant.
Common side effects include nausea, headaches, breast tenderness, mood changes, and irregular bleeding. Rare but serious risks include blood clots, heart attack, and stroke. Not suitable for smokers over 35, those with clotting disorders, certain cancers, or uncontrolled hypertension. Always read the patient information leaflet before use.
