How does it work?

Emla Cream contains lidocaine and prilocaine, local anaesthetics that block nerve signals in the skin. This temporarily numbs the treated area, reducing pain and discomfort during procedures.

Ingredients

Active ingredients: Lidocaine 25 mg/g, Prilocaine 25 mg/g. Excipients: Carbomer 974P, polyoxyethylene hydrogenated castor oil, sodium hydroxide, purified water.

Side Effects

Possible side effects include redness, swelling, itching, or paleness of the skin at the application site. Rarely, allergic reactions may occur. Avoid use on broken or inflamed skin unless advised by a healthcare professional. Not suitable for certain patients with blood disorders like methaemoglobinaemia.
